Who We Are
The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) – Nairobi is an autonomous, non-profit, membership-based and private sector lobby institution. We aim to represent, support and protect the interests of the business community in Nairobi.
We do so by supporting the development of small businesses, lobbying and advocating for an enabling environment for enterprises in the County and promoting Nairobi as a preferred national/International business and investment hub.

To facilitate and promote a sustainable business environment for economic growth and prosperity.
- Promotes, coordinates and protects commercial and industrial interests of businesses in Nairobi County.
- Promotes dialogue with policy makers to enact pro-business regulations and legislation.
- Builds capacities of businesses especially small and medium enterprises through training for entrepreneurs, access to investors and markets, technology transfer information dissemination and exchange.
- Creates a better understanding and complementary between businesses and residents of Nairobi County.
- Stimulate Business excellence ethics and accountability for its membership.
- Promotes and encourage principals of sustainability among small businesses in the County.
Mr. Jimnah M. Mbaru is the current Chairman of KNCCI-Nairobi having been elected on 18th April 2019. He is also the Chairman & Chief Executive Officer at Dyer & Blair Investment Bank Ltd., Kenya Association of Stockbrokers & Investment Banks and Jitegemee Trust Ltd., an Associate Professor at University of Stellenbosch Business School., and Partner at East Africa Capital Partners LLC.
He has held Board positions at Occidental Insurance Co. Ltd., PineBridge Investments East Africa Ltd., British American Insurance Co. ( Kenya) Ltd., British-American Investments Co. (Kenya) Ltd. and African Wildlife Foundation, Inc.
Previously, as Chairman of African Stock Exchanges Association, Mr Mbaru played a key role in developing the capital markets in Africa and was central to the formation of the Uganda, Dar-es-salaam, Rwanda and Botswana Stock Exchanges.
He has also served as Chairman of the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) for over 10 years, National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) and was a member of the National Economic and Social Council (NESC).
Mr. Mbaru has a Bachelors of Commerce from University of Nairobi, a Masters of Business Administration from IMD and a Bachelors of Law (LLB) from University of Nairobi.
He is also an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
GEOFFREY KIMANIVICE CHAIRMAN
Geoffrey Kimani is a seasoned professional in Diplomacy & International Studies, an astute Communications guru, a master in Trade & Cooperative Development, and an inspiring focused Business Leader who is tenacious, organized, outgoing and possess good analytical & interpersonal skills.
Having worked both in the Public and Private Sectors in Kenya, and rising in his career from Mid-Level to Senior-Level Management positions, Geoffrey has built a rich and elaborate career competency experience spanning 21 years in Trade & Cooperative Development, Public Relations, Debt Management, Procurement, Programme & Project Management, Diplomacy, Communications, Business Development & Growth Strategy, Quality Assurance, Resource Management, Strategic Planning, Process Analysis, and Performance Management, Evaluation & Reporting.
He has managed a team of direct reports of more than 30 staff members. He is currently in charge of different leadership and management portfolios including being the Board Chairman at AFS Holdings Ltd, the Vice Chairman of KNCCI Nairobi County.
Geoffrey holds a Masters of Arts Degree in International Studies, a Masters of Arts Degree in Religious Studies, a Post-graduate Diploma in Mass Communication, and a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Government and Religious Studies, all from the University of Nairobi.
Nemaisa Kiereini has over 10 years proven executive management track record in public policy, value driven leadership and use of technology to drive outcomes.
Prior to joining KNCCI-Nairobi, she was the Advisor on trade and investment for the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) and Advocacy Consultant for the Business Advocacy Fund (BAF). She coordinated a successful engagement for Jack Ma (CEO Alibaba) with Kenyan Private Sector.
Previously, she served as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry where she successfully led the meetings, incentives and exhibitions initiatives that led to the successful hosting and participation of the private sector in the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Tenth World Trade Organization (WTO) Conference and the Tokyo International Conference on Africa’s Development (TICAD) in Kenya.
Ms. Nemaisa spent the prior 9 years in the Telecom industry, holding several executive positions in Telkom Kenya and Airtel. She serves on the board of directors of the Kenya Year Book Editorial Board, Africa Medical Research Foundation (AMREF) and has previously served as the Vice Governor in the KEPSA Industrialization Sector Board.
She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Systems and Technology at the United States International University (USIU) and an MBA in Strategic Management at Strathmore Business School.
